GPON FTTH...tuu lah perkara yang kena aku fahami skrg...so dari pembacaan dan rujukan...aku simplify dalam bentuk diagram utk lebih fhm...tapi kali ni..aku pergi kepada PON terlebih dahulu...
Dalam pencapaian kepada HSBB, untuk mencapai kepantasan internet yang memuaskan, teknologi PON merupakan penyelesaian. Sblm mengenali dengan lebih lanjut. Seeloknya tahu asas dan fungsi.
Definition
PON an access technology. Passive Optical Network is P2MP (Point-to-Multiple point) scheme that enable the single optical fiber to serve multiply premises. PON consists of:
1. OLT (Optical Line Terminal)
2. ONU (optical Network Unit ) /ONT (Optical Network Termination)
3. ODN (Optical Distribution Network)
a. Fiber Optic Cable
b. Optical Splitter
Purposes
GPON are mainly applies to the scenarios, such as FTTH, to provide and support:
Advantages of PON??
1. Power Consumption, PON uses Passive (UNPOWERED) Optical Splitter compare to AON (Active Optical Splitter), so totally reduced the cost and no power issues for Optical Splitter in PON System.
Cth: Disadvantage Active Splitter, kalau power supply untuk active splitter breakdown, kesemua pengguna mengalami gangguan tidak dapat menggunakan perkhidmatan internet .
2. Guarantee bandwidth to services / subscribers.
Passive Optical Network Technologies
Pon ni ade byk jenis dan versi selari dengan perkembangan teknologi.
1. APON (ATM PON) - ATM-based PONs (APONs) work just like standard ATM networks.
2. BPON (Broadband PON) - BPON is an ITU-based standard, based on APON, but uses WDM.
3. EPON (Ethernet PON) - Ethernet PONs are point-to-multipoint fiber optic networks suitable for Fiber to the Home (FTTH) and Fiber to the Building (FTTB) applications.
4. GPON (Gigabit ethernet PON) - EPON is Fast Ethernet (100 Mbps) PON, while GPON is GigE (10 Gbps) PON.

In line with FTTx, such as Fiber to the Premises (FTTP) is the ultimate solution to the bandwidth bottleneck that exists on network access. Worldwide, many carriers are building affordable FTTP networks based on a Passive Optical Network (PON) architecture.
